Essential Services

As you may be aware, states where we operate have issued an emergency order requiring all businesses and organizations that do not provide COVID-19 Essential Services to close their physical workplaces and facilities to workers, customers and the public.

Key Biologics (A Cellero Company) is an “Essential Service” as designated by the executive orders in each state where we operate.

As a provider of Essential Services, we will continue to operate and will be following social distancing and regular sanitizing protocols for donors and workers in accordance with guidance from the Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Assessing an individual’s eligibility to safely donate blood products has always been and remains our highest priority. We use a multi-step process that includes an extensive health history questionnaire, a mini-physical exam and testing for exposure to various diseases.

Please exercise caution, and practice social distancing when traveling to/from and during your scheduled appointment at Key Biologics.

More information regarding state orders and a list of essential business may be found on your local government websites in the states where we operate. Links to those sites are provided below.

Self-Assessment for Donors

We are encouraging potential donors to self-assess using the educational materials here. This is the same required reading material given to potential donors at each visit and posted in our health history interview rooms.

Additionally, in alignment with recent recommendations from blood banking groups, we are including information about notification if a donor is diagnosed with COVID-19 within 28 days post donation. We have routine screening measures already in place for evaluating clinical evidence of infection and travel history.

COVID-19 Testing

Currently there are no available tests for the virus that have been approved by the FDA for screening blood donors, nor is Key Biologics equipped to test for COVID-19. Our staff has been trained to report applicable health and travel information provided by you for evaluation by the Medical Director. We are actively monitoring the CDC, FDA and World Health Organization updates along with guidance from relevant State and Local agencies and may make adjustments in the future as directed by the Medical Director and/or as required by regulatory authorities.
